Little by little I have replaced toxic foods, products and household items to non-toxic. I was really happy when I finally got organic sheets!

Every little toxin in your world is one that your body needs to process. I think I have cut down on toxic intake by 90%; and I was already eating lots of organic when I got MCS.

Taking care of your mouth is essential to your health and well-being and may lower your risk for other health problems.

Bacteria from your mouth can enter your bloodstream and infect other parts of the body, affecting every organ, and including the inner lining of your heart—particularly if you’re already at high risk for a heart condition.

Studies have also linked poor oral health to elevated levels of C-reactive protein that can lead to diabetes, stroke, heart disease, osteoporosis and other inflammatory diseases of aging.

Infections and cavities are both a cause and symptom of poor health. The importance of dental health and how to prevent cavities and other problems with nutrition is explained in

Keep your oral health on track by brushing twice daily, flossing, changing your toothbrush every three to four months and eating healthy. Plan visits to your dentist every six months. Find a Biolological dentis who uses nontoxic material for cleaning, amalgams and injections. Find a BPA free tooth brush.  Practice "oil pulling" See my video) , Brush your teeth with peppermint oil. sea salt or baking soda.  Most commercial toothpaste is toxic. Fluoride damages your organs. If you buy tooth paste, find something organic.

What is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity? How to recover!

Transcript and Video

Hello, this is Eve from Eve's Pot of Gold, and.com and Facebook page called Detoxing the I also have the website DetoxTheBodyMCS.com and the Facebook Page “Detoxing the Body and Help with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity mcs”.
I just want to give you a little background: I was always health conscious; actively exercising and well-eating. I was always a little sensitive to chemicals. A few years ago, perfumes started bothering me. All of a sudden, in my gym and my workout class, people's perfumes and fabric softener started bothering me, making me feel so sick, so much that I couldn't stay in the room anymore, leaving me gasping for breath. Over a short period of time, wherever I went, the chemicals everywhere just bothered me—gave me headaches, made me grouchy, made me spacey, make me tired, hurt my lungs, and just made me feel awful.
I immediately started googling to find out what was wrong with me. Luckily I did, and I found out how serious it was. As I immediately started detoxing and doing everything I could do, I read Sherry Roger's books a few times through. I read all this stuff on cure zone which was sort of the only thing, a year and a half-two years ago, I could find on Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). I started doing most of Sherry Rogers' protocol which is the alpha-lipoic acid, glutathion, vitamin C, sauna therapy, and coffee enema on a daily basis. I did a hundred other things. I read incessantly, and did everything I could to get better. I also upped my nutrition and cleared my house of all the toxins I could. I got air purifiers. I had a friend who had an immune system disorder and got well by going to therapy, so I started going to therapy. I just did everything I could. I've had acupuncture. I take all kinds of supplements, eat all kinds of super foods.
The good news is, after about six months of detoxing, I all of a sudden got well. The bad news is, all of the time I was detoxing, I was still getting worse. I wasn't feeling any better at all, and if you have MCS, you know, it's really frightening, and it's really frustrating. It is the most awful illness I can imagine because not only are you sick, you can't go anywhere, and it's a really serious, fatal disease; but everyone just thinks you're neurotic and complaining, that it's all in your mind. Doctor's aren't much better.
Anyway, I started my sites and my channel to help other people and to encourage people to detox and build up your nutrition and your health as quickly and as best as you can because you do not want to keep getting sicker. Its a very serious illness and you are damaging your organs.
When I was sick, I would read for hours on all these message boards, and there were a lot of people sick, and there wasn't a lot of people that got well. A lot of time when you get well, you just go live your life, but I want to come back and encourage everybody else who is still sick to get well.
Also, I'm still detoxing and am still sensitive to chemicals. I don't want to just get well enough so that I'm not sick. I prefer to get as healthy and as toxin free as I can so I don't catch some awful related disease.
I will just be putting up videos on random topics, speaking off the top of my head. Don't forget, I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist, and this is just my own experience. I'm not giving any medical advice. Sadly, doctors didn't help me at all. All I had to get well was Google. If you know anyone sick, suffering from chemical sensitivity or any other chronic disease, can send them to my Facebook page or Youtube channel. Look for daily tips at 'Detoxing the Body and help for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity' Facebook page.

How and Why to Suana!

How to Sauna or Heat Therapy

{A note on Cellulite, weight loss, stress and acne: Sauna is the best way to get rid of cellulite, lose weight, de-stress and have beautiful skin. I got rid of all of my blemishes and cellulite from doing sauna therapy for my health. All of the money you can spend in spas and on creams will never match the sauna. Health is Beauty. Decide to spend that extra time on yourself and you will learn to relish the relaxing sauna time. In the long run, it will save you time and money and give you vibrant health and beauty. I have not been sauning for a year and it shows!!!!}
Sauna is one of the most healing therapies known to man. I did saunas 3 times a week for intensive detoxing which helped heal from Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. I did this for a year and would still be doing had I not changed gyms.
It is said that sauna (or heat therapy) is the best way to mobilize toxins that are stored in the fat. Toxins get stored in the fat to protect your organs from absorbing them. There is emerging research that obesity can be a toxicity issue.  Sauna is just a wonderful effective way to detox.  It has been practiced my Native Americans (sweat lodge) Romans, Turkish and surely many other cultures.
Other benefits of sauna are stimulating the lymphatic system, opening up the pores of the skin and  cleaning it, getting rid of cellulite, strengthen your cardiovascular system, and eliminate stress(which I think is a major contributor to illness); high heat kills germs and viruses and used for treating cancer and many chronic diseases. They call it Heperthermia.
Hippocrates declared, “Give me a chance to create fever and I will cure any disease.” recognized that the “artificial fevers” induced by intentional sweating purge harmful pathogens and toxins while fortifying your immune system.
During a 15 to 20 minute sweat session your pulse rate can increase from an average of 75 beats per minute (bpm) to between 100-150 bpm. This increase in blood circulation, without increasing blood pressure, strengthens your cardiovascular system.
These are some things I did in my sauna therapy. If you have heart trouble, see your doctor before sauning.  If your health is week, or not, go at your own pace and don’t over-do it. You can take your time to see how your body reacts to the heat and build your own regimen. It took me a while to build up to my 3 sessions of one hour in 15 or 20 minute increments. The last 15 minutes I usually spent on the cooler lower bench. Some sauna experts say the lower heat for longer periods is better.
You can buy an infrared sauna, my gym has a branch with an infrared sauna. I have most experience with the traditional sauna, so that’s what I’ll talk about.
I was in the sauna to detox, not to lose weight, cellulite or strengthen my heart (these are side benefits), so my intent was to get maximum toxins out while taking the minimum in. In a public sauna there are many toxic things happening. The biggest offender is plastic in the sauna; everyone wants to bring in their plastic water bottles and flip flops. Heated up plastic off-gasses toxins, so I try to very politely and kindly find a way to educate people and ask them not to use that in the sauna. It may take a while to find a way to explain the situation that goes over well. I usually exaggerate the gravity of my illness (it makes people nicer). If you can find  articles to show or talk to the management of your club, educate them and convince them to put up a sign that says ‘nothing but towels in the sauna’, that’s great. My new gym actually has plastic sauna bucket. :( . I haven’t gotten around to talking to the management yet, I just hide the bucket in a locker. I secretly pried off and took down a plastic sign inside one sauna. In my gym there was a swimming pool and people would go in the sauna to warm up with flippers, goggles etc. Don’t wear any synthetic materials, there are chemical changes to materials when they heat up.
There is also the issue of people using toxic scented creams and butters to slather up their bodies, and you have to breathe in the toxins. This actually doesn’t benefit the user as the whole point of sauna is to open the pores and let things out.  Back when I was saunaing to stay alive, I was known as a pain in the ass, if not worse. OH WELL! Some people don’t like me, but I got well.
I used to wet the corner of a towel with the filtered drinking fountain water and put some organic essential oil it, I would put this over my face and breath that it. It felt wonderful and I was hoping filtered other toxins. Some people are sensitive to essential oils, so listen to your body. Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Lemon etc were very healing for me.
If you feel ill or faint, leave the sauna and sit down for a while.
Drink Plenty of water and make sure to replenish minerals and electrolytes.  I use a lot of Himalaya Sea Salt and use mineral rich foods and supplements. Magnesium calcium and zinc are teh main minerals lost in through sweat. There are specific Tri-salts mentioned in this great article about sauna. http://lifestylelaboratory.com/articles/rogers-protocols.html. I never used it.
I put towels down and don’t touch the wood of the sauna very much. people have sweated out many toxins and I don’t want to be in contact with them. Probably the wood has its own self cleaning mechanism, but better safe than toxic. I use plenty of towels and wipe the sweat off when it builds up. I do this to ensure that the toxins are not reabsorbed into my skin. I rinse off whenever I can’t take the heat any more. That also cleans off the toxins. When I have sweated on a towel, I get a fresh one. I am generally quite eco aware, but I am a towel waster! when you are finished in the sauna you don’t need to wash with soap as your body is completely clean.
Doing a sauna after exercise is especially beneficial, as you blood vessels are your open and your lymphatic system is already moving. If you dont have access to sauna, there are heat lamps, you can take hot baths while drinking hot tea and then wrap up in warm clothes and many ways to heat your body and sweat. Its hard to Google becaues of ads, but when I find  a good article I will post it here.
I do some stretching, visualizing of my goals or have wonderful chats in the usually relaxing atmosphere of the sauna. I really miss those days of intense sauna therapy. Its great for the lymphatic system. I was very lean, had beautiful skin and always felt immediately better after encountering chemicals.

Detoxing Plastics from your body and home

Plastic is toxic.
It causes cancer, is an endocrine disruptor (it messes up your hormones), affects the immune system, metabolism, skin, weight, mood etc
It leaches into food and drink, off-gasses into the air and is absorbed through your skin and lungs into the blood stream.

I am not a doctor or health professional of any kind. My only credentials are that when I was very ill with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) I spent hours a day reading and googling on detoxing, and then doing every detox method I saw fit. I managed to get get 90% well after a year or so.
I read a lot about plastics. Pthalates and BPA are substances everyone wants to avoid, I avoid all plastics when I can. I attribute getting as much plastic as possible out of my blood as one of the main reasons that I got well.

The dangers of plastics have not been widely studied. The only reason it was discovered that BPA was carcinogenic was by accident when medical researchers found many rats getting cancer while doing a  study for something else. It turned out to be the BPA in the rats' water bottle. For me personally, I want to avoid plastic whenever possible. This is difficult because it is in sales receipts, cans, food cartons, car interiors, packaging, books, magazines, gym weights, electric wires, tech devices, cash, clothing, accessories, appliances etc. Now that I feel better I am not so fanatical, but I still won't usually eat or drink from plastic or with plastic utensils and am still ridding my home of plastics.

Especially, avoid anything heated in plastic, putting Styrofoam in the microwave is a killer! While in the sauna don't wear your flip flops or bring any plastic in. I have tried to gently and kindly educate people in the gym sauna and finally found a way to communicate it in a way that didn't make them defensive.

Some ways to avoid plastics is to use glass or ceramic jars to hold wet and dry foods, left-overs and even supplements. I rarely buy food wrapped in plastic. I spend the extra money for the jarred food. Plastic residue contaminates the food that isn't even touching the plastic. Sometimes, if I do buy food in plastic I bring it home, liberate it, let it air out and then put it in a glass container.
I freeze in glass or ceramic containers (peanut butter jars etc),. Make sure not to over fill them or they will break. Sometimes I freeze with the lid slightly ajar and close it later.

I rarely drink from plastic containers. Sometimes when I go to art openings I bring my own glass and my own organic wine. When I go to parties at my friend's homes, I ask for a glass. Its a little strange, but I really wanted to get well. I am looking for an antique (all ready off-gassed the toxins) wooden bread box and want to start making my own bread one day. Soft plastic often has BPA.

I have paper sandwich and lunch bags. I keep meaning to bring them to the Bulk Section when I go shopping, instead of using the plastic provided. I use paper for snacks etc.  People went for thousands of years without using plastic and it is possible!

I don't own any plastic food storage containers. I got rid of plastics all around my home. (they are actually off-gassing and adding toxins to the air). Shower curtains are particularly toxic. I bought an "ECO" green shower curtain liner from Giaim, but it was made from petroleum so I sent it back and just have a cloth curtain liner. I am really wary and sensitive to petroleum products, from car fumes to candles!

I want to buy a bamboo or wood keyboard and mouse, but so far have only found ones that come "with a coating". Skin absorbs what it touches and foes into the blood stream (note all of the Patches used for medicines)  I bought a rubber yoga mat, the others are polyvinyl. Many people with MCS let books, magazines etc air out in the yard before bringing it into the home.

Your vinyl floor tiles are toxic. Your "wood look" floors are vinyl too. I still haven't changed mine in the kitchen, but usually walk around at home in organic socks. Your window screens are now plastic. I still have mine, but am happy they are pretty old. At the gym, I use a towel or enough clothing not to have my skin in contact with the vinyl. One day I will find some organic gym gloves!I am not saying I am afraid to touch things,  I do all the time; I just try to minimize where I can.

I have reverse osmosis water and carry my water around in glass containers. I put some oil of oregano  in it so that it kills any germs. I am wary of "stainless steel", metals are known to be bad for your health and you know everything is from China and of dubious quality these days. I am pretty sure my reverse osmosis tank is lined with plastic(and of course the tubes are plastic) and trying to find a plastic free water purification source.

People with MCS are very handy to have around. We have some kind of physical reaction or sensory perception when something is toxic. We don't need to wait for a study to come out to tell you if something is toxic! We get a headache or worse when exposed to lots of fresh plastic!

Many people are bothered by the plastic in their eye glasses! Apparently, they have BPA as do tooth brushes! I could go on all day.

Plastic is everywhere, you cant avoid it, but with a little work a 70% reduction isn't difficult.

Even if it wasn't so bad for you health, you may have heard about the plastic pile in the Pacific Ocean the size of the US, or how the sea animals, even plankton contain plastics now. The sea animals are eating and getting caught in the plastic. Plastic has surpassed its usefulness and should be reserved for a few things it can do really well.

When I was sick and reading up on this it was very overwhelming and frightening. My actions may seem extreme, but I was so chemically sensitive that I could not go anywhere without feeling ill from chemicals. I thought I may have just been neurotic, but now I know it was me taking care of myself. It worked,  I am almost well and am planning on 100% recovery! Emotional stress may be as physically toxic as BPA, so we don't need to sweat it!  After a while you calm down and realize that you can detox a great deal of these poisons out of your body.  The body is an amazing machine of healing and renewal, just help it along as much as you can.

Be well!
Eve
